Plantscape transforms Brunel University’s 1966 coffee shop with sustainable and stunning planters

At Plantscape, we installed a stunning set of new planters to create a beautiful perimeter outside the 1966 coffee shop – the social hub of Brunel University.

At Plantscape, we installed a stunning set of new planters to create a beautiful perimeter outside the 1966 coffee shop – the social hub of Brunel University.

The old wooden planter wall was replaced with sections made from inner 7-day watering planters that are surrounded by a robust, heavy-duty wood-effect plastic made from recycled plastic bottles. The material recycled is equivalent to 20,907 plastic bottles. They can also be recycled again!

These recycled plastic panels are produced by TDP, a local award-winning company. For each metre square surround, over 1242kg of CO2 is saved from entering the atmosphere. The equivalent carbon of 3150 miles of emissions from an average car.

Our team of experts delivered all the planters and surrounds to the location situated in the heart of the Brunel University Campus and constructed this impressive new perimeter wall within a day.

The core 7 day watering planters consisted of 7 x metre square planters and 12 X 12500mm long window boxes.

Our inner planters were thoughtfully planted with a mixture of seasonal, evergreen, and perennial plants that will add beauty to the area year-round.

This eye-catching development provides an effective perimeter to one of the busiest parts of the campus while being easy to maintain, sustainable, and environmentally friendly.

'Communication and planning of our new planters could not have been better. From conception, layout, material and plant choice. Delivery and install was well arranged and carried out perfectly. We are very happy with the finished product and it has created a very stylish refurbishment to our main external seating area on campus.'
