Plantscape was approached by Country Garden Services in 2018 to supply and install planted baskets and window boxes throughout the village of Slip End as part of a three-year contract with the Parish Council.
Andrew Prothero, the owner of Country Garden Services, was already working with the council on a gardening contract when residents enquired about the village having flower displays to enhance the area, similar to the neighbouring Parish.
Country Garden Services organised a survey of lamp posts and village entrance gates and collated the information to present to Slip End Parish Council for a three-year Summer Flowering Display contract which was accepted, with Plantscape being the supplier for the contract. After installing the flower displays, Country Gardens maintained them over the summer periods.
Due to the success of the planters and the positive feedback about making the village look more attractive, Country Garden Services also suggested using floor standing Octagonal Planters supplied by Plantscape, replacing old wooden raised flowerbeds as they would provide longer life. Three of these planters were purchased to house perennial plants and maintained again by Country Gardens. As well as brightening up the area, they have also stopped people from parking on the grass area outside the local school, which was a regular issue before the planters were installed.
Country Garden Services and the Parish Council received positive feedback from residents including comments about how attractive the planters look and how they have enhanced areas around the village. Country Garden Services has also reported cars stopping to complement the displays when the teams have been out watering the flowers.
Due to the success of the displays, a further three-year contract has been agreed for the displays to continue.
