Beverley displays its pride with brightly coloured flowers as Plantscape begins summer deliveries

Beverley in Yorkshire has been undeterred after having to cancel its first ever Pride event because of coronavirus, with its mayor determined to fill his beautiful town with Plantscape’s brightly coloured floral displays this summer.

The many times Gold In Bloom award winning market town will soon be taking delivery of 68 lamppost mounted seven-day watering floral displays and eight dramatic flower towers from Plantscape’s greenhouse, which begins sending out displays across Britain this week.

Beverley’s mayor Coun Tom Astell said: “It’s fantastic that we are still being able to decorate the town and make it look its best despite the current situation. The hope is that this will lift spirits and aid in maintaining the excellent reputation Beverley has for its floral displays.

“This year, Beverley was due to hold its first Pride event. Obviously, given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic we had to make the difficult decision to cancel. However, these hanging baskets and flower towers will be in bright colours in order for Beverley to display its pride through the power of flowers!”

Town clerk Helen Watson added: “Plantscape’s blooms will lift the spirits of the people of Beverley and pave the way to a more caring way of life and greater emphasis on nature and the environment.

“Growing flowers grows people and grows communities. You can see people swell and grow and smile and become happy,” she explained.

Plantscape has supplied specially colour schemed flowers to a number of towns over the years. As well as pride displays, mauve options have been offered to those wishing to celebrate their ‘purple flag’ night time economy status. Others have chosen colours from the town’s coat of arms.
