Plantscape backs RHS campaign to help combat loneliness through community gardening

A new RHS campaign to help communities develop closer connections and combat loneliness is being backed by civic floral display specialist Plantscape, a firm believer in the power of nature to help improve mental wellbeing.

The theme for this year’s RHS Greening Great Britain campaign is Growing Connections -and the RHS is offering grant funding of up to £500 to community groups which can demonstrate that their project will help bring people together and benefit others in the community.

Eligible organisations include Britain in Bloom groups, It’s Your Neighbourhood and School Gardening campaigns in certain regions.

Plantscape believes its DIY seven-day watering planters could help some of those groups achieve the goals of the RHS campaign.

Its eco-friendly seven-day watering planters are proving increasingly popular with towns, BIDs and In Bloom groups UK wide.

The planters allow gardening fans to use their own creative skills, with the added benefit that they can reuse them year after year.

The most popular types are enormous flower towers which offer the potential to create dramatic cascading displays, with hanging baskets, window boxes and barrier baskets for use on railings also a stylish choice.

They have the added, perhaps surprising, bonus of being eco-friendly. Black pots, which make up 80% of sales and rentals, are made from recycled plastic which, in turn, is recyclable. They also save on manpower and transport costs, by requiring fewer visits over the course of the season.

Previous RHS Greening Great Britain successes have included a school in Edinburgh working with a neighbouring care home, creating a mindful, dementia friendly space in Essex and revamping a plot to create a church allotment in Gateshead.
