Plantscape distributes hundreds of winter planters across the UK

Hundreds of planters filled with autumn, winter and spring colour and dramatic foliage are set to grace the streets and parks of Britain over the coming weeks, thanks to the hard work and imagination of civic floral displays specialist Plantscape.

With autumn officially here, towns which have been enjoying a riot of colour all summer long thanks to Plantscape’s creativity and innovative seven day watering system, are keen to keep up the colourful tradition throughout the year.

The free-standing planters, barrier and hanging baskets contain a texturally interesting mixture of evergreen shrubs, herbs and hardy flowering plants which give way in spring to flowering bulbs.
Conifers, euonymus and ivy are among the foliage plants chosen by councils which find the investment in making their streets look attractive reaps economic benefits. Herbs such as bay, sage and rosemary add scent as well as visual contrast.

Flowering plants like pansies bring joy for weeks and spring bulbs including snowdrops, daffodils, tulips, iris and hyacinth will ensure Britain’s towns and villages need never be devoid of life and colour.

The pots have been planted up and nurtured at Plantscape’s 100,000 sq ft greenhouse complex at Egginton, Derbyshire, which earlier this year was filled with 12,500 summer planters for 120 councils, universities, Business Improvement Districts, retail parks and In Bloom groups across the UK.

Many of the councils will be adding to their street displays later this year by asking Plantscape to install solar powered Christmas trees as a cost effective and easier alternative to traditional festive decorations.
