Plantscape helps Leicestershire towns win their tenth Gold In Bloom award

Towns in Leicestershire have won their tenth Gold In Bloom award in a row – thanks to the dazzling displays created for them by all-year-round floral specialist Plantscape.

Oadby and Wigston Borough Council was the proud recipient of more than 300 colourful arrangements created and nurtured at Plantscape’s mega-nursery in Derbyshire.

Residents and visitors spent an entire summer enjoying the profusion of blooms spilling from 168 hanging baskets, 84 lamp post mounted planters and 36 barrier baskets and an assortment of other displays, all of which were watered by Plantscape’s maintenance team.

The borough’s head of operational and street scene services, Brian Kew, plays a vital role in overseeing the aesthetic allure of the two neighbouring towns. And not only was he thrilled with the decade-long success enjoyed in the East Midlands In Bloom contest, he is also hoping to win again in 2020, with help from Plantscape.

“I will like to thank Plantscape for such a wonderful display once again. With working with yourself and the pride of the borough, hopefully we can continue with the Gold award in the future,” he said.

Oadby and Wigston were some of many towns across the UK who won In Bloom awards thanks to their partnership with Plantscape.

Elsewhere in the East Midlands, Loughborough won a Gold award along with a best in category, Oakham in Rutland also won a Silver Gilt and Syston in Leicestershire a Silver.

In the neighbouring West Midlands, Acocks Green in Birmingham earned Gold, with Solihull’s Dickens Heath winning a Silver Gilt.

In the North, the market town of Beverley won a hattrick of Golds – for the overall Large Town Category, the Yorkshire Rose and Best Town in Yorkshire – in its first year of enjoying Plantscape’s dazzling array of hanging baskets!

Fellow Yorkshire town market Malton won Gold and Best Small Town, and its barrier baskets were described as ‘the best in Yorkshire.’

And in Wales, Prestatyn won a Gold award, thanks to the 120 or so hanging and barrier baskets and towers of amazing blooms designed, planted and watered by Plantscape.
