Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are a proven way to grow and develop the workforce. Apprenticeships have already contributed to the effectiveness, productivity and competitiveness of our business.  With over 140 sites across the country, we are ideally placed to tap into the local community and invest in the employment of young people hence our ‘plant your own apprentice scheme’.

Apprenticeships - programme 1

We currently partner with local colleges and training providers across the country. Our partners work very closely with us and ensure that our apprenticeships serve the future needs of the business and work towards our aim to bridge the skills gap within the industry. The end result of which is the delivery of a high-quality training programme for young people.

Trainees of all types are given a clear development plan when working within idverde, this ensures that the individual remains motivated and committed and we fulfill our obligation to the trainee in respect of clarity of career path and the development they will receive. The trainee’s progress is then regularly reviewed and any issues dealt with at the review in order to avoid longer-term manifestation. This is key because it enables us to change direction should the development plan not be progressing down the route that was initially desired.

Apprenticeships - programme 2

Trainees are progressed onto obtaining industry accreditations when through the regular review process, both parties are happy for the next stage of investment to begin.  This inevitably increases motivation and commitment to the Company which are both proven to increase retention.  This outline approach to support and development has worked successfully for us and has led to increased opportunities for young people to start apprenticeships with idverde UK each year.

We’ve also worked with environmental and community regeneration charity, Groundwork South, to form an innovative partnership approach providing real work experience for Groundwork’s apprentice Green Teams.  So far, the Green Teams have been working alongside our professional team on our contract with Mendip District Council.

Apprenticeships - programme 3

This year’s apprentices are studying a more diverse range of specialisms than ever before.  Our latest apprentices are as keen as ever and making their mark as valued members of their teams.

How are our apprenticeships structured?

Depending on the level of qualification being attained, an apprenticeship can take between 12 to 24 months to complete.

As apprenticeships are work-based training schemes, the majority of the training you will receive will be ‘on the job’ as part of our experienced teams. The rest of the training will be provided by our in-house Performance Campus or a training provider partner organisation (depending on your locality). You will be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week and will be paid at the nationally recognised apprentice rate of pay for the duration of your training.

Each apprenticeship is made up of a number of elements which is called the Framework. This means that you will get a range of qualifications as you progress through your training and education. Each Framework has three main strands:

  • A competence-based element
  • A technical element
  • A skills element

These three strands will quite often be accompanied by additional qualifications specific to our industry and the job that you are doing.

You will receive lots of support and encouragement to complete your apprenticeship and qualifications and progress within our business.
